Delay → When an activity is performed.

Slippage in start/finish.

Critical delay = slippage in critical path.

Disruption → How an activity is performed.

Loss of productivity due to interference, site conditions, rework, fatigue, supervision issues, weather, etc.

Project may finish on time but at a higher cost.

Identified through cost overruns and productivity claims.
