How to Use Chart and Visualization Filters in Power BI
Filters are not just a basic feature — they are a powerful way to refine analysis across any visualization.
By default, Power BI provides filters for the parameters you include in your model. For example, if you add earned value cost, you can immediately filter by that field.
But advanced analysis requires more than defaults. You can apply filters to highlight specific ranges, such as:
Areas with values greater than 1 million
Labor costs or total project costs above a threshold
Custom breakdowns that focus only on the largest contributors
This flexibility allows project teams to focus on what matters most — whether it’s isolating high‑value areas or drilling into cost drivers.
Good dashboards don’t just display all data.
They filter strategically to reveal the insights that drive decisions.
