How to Create an Activity % Trend Chart in Power BI

Most project delays don’t start as delays.

They start as “everything looks fine on paper.”

I built a simple Power BI view that tracks *weekly activity performance vs planned progress* — not just cumulative %.

What it reveals is powerful:
• A project can be “ahead of schedule” but still losing momentum
• A single weak week can signal future delay risk
• Progress data becomes an early warning system, not a report

In project controls, our job isn’t reporting progress.

It’s predicting delay before it happens.

Because by the time everyone agrees there’s a problem… it’s already expensive.

Data doesn’t just describe reality. It protects the schedule.
